my story
Unlike many other mediums I was not born with my gift, in fact I was a skeptic!
From a young age, I have identified with my native american heritage and have practiced those traditions along with Azteca (native mexican) traditions of my husband and children. Thus I have always had a strong belief system in and a connection to spirit.
Within the Aztec danza tradition there is what they call a "sahumadoras", this is an individual who takes care of the danza circle using Copal, a native tradition to cleanse the area before the dancers dance their prayers. While dancing I had been drawn to this position for quite a few years but I never asked to be taught because I knew that I wasn't born of this blood and didn't think I would be accepted. The pulling kept getting stronger and stronger until spirit finally gave me no choice. My husband and I went to Mexico for our anniversary. While down there we found a danza group. The sahumadora within that group gifted me copal and what we call a popoxcomitl (basically burning incense in a clay pot that the azteca use to clear space energetically). When she gifted me the smoke I told spirit silently, "ok, I hear you loud and clear, I'm to do this and I will". Since the time I accepted the smoke spirit has led me and my life has changed quite dramatically.
Shortly after, in 2016 I was feeling drawn to work with people who were in hospice and preparing to cross the veil. I have always felt that is should be celebrated as a birth would be. I knew intuitively that it's a beautiful experience. I started asking people who might do this type of work and my niece introduced me to a friend named Monica.
I scheduled a time to go meet Monica in her home and while there Monica shared with me about her experience in being a "death doula" and how beneficial it was for those in hospice and their families.
While sitting at the table with Monica talking to her and her friend I felt an energy coming from a room in the back of the house. I have been a massage therapist for 30 years so I'm extremely familiar with energies, however, this was bigger than I had ever felt, and in being honest it frightened me a little bit, but it was definitely enough for me to speak up and tell Monica what I was feeling and where it was coming from. Monica wasn't surprised and said oh yes, my massage room is back that way that is probably what your feeling. I agreed and was quite relieved.
However, as soon as they dismissed it the energy became so urgent and larger, so I had to tell Monica. Monica sat quietly for a minute and asked me if I was a medium. I looked at her and asked "as in medium like John Edwards medium? No!
Monica however wasn't convinced and asked me what I saw at that moment. I said, I see you! She said no what do you see in like your minds eye, as soon as she said this, all the sudden in my minds eye I saw an older gray haired women. I described this women to Monica and she got excited and said "that's my grandma"! Monica kept asking me questions and I continued on and a message came through for Monica. You see Monica had lost a daughter when she was only 4 years old and it was near the anniversary of her daughters passing. Monica's grandma came through letting Monica know she has her girl in good hands and they are doing great! As you can imagine it took me awhile to process what happened to me. When we left I looked at the husband and told him point blank "I think i might need medication, I think I'm losing my mind".
After this one time it kept happening so I thought I better seek out someone to help mentor me. My original thought was to have someone help me with stopping it from happening randomly, however after I received some mentoring I realized what a beautiful gift it was and thought "how can I not do this for people it's such a loving gift"! That is when I decided that since spirit blessed me with this gift then I was going to get the best mentorship possible because that's what this unique and loving gift deserved. I prayed and asked spirit to bring me to the mentors that would help me develop my give to serve spirit best and that is exactly what spirit did.
I continue to study with world renown medium such as Mavis Patilla and Tony Stockwell to develop my gift to serve both worlds to the absolute best of my ability.
